Parametric BIM Objects in Revit, Training and Project Preparation
Project Overview
In 2025, a training module was implemented for PKE Electronics GmbH, a subsidiary of the well-known electronics manufacturer Philips Electronics, that combined the creation of parametric BIM objects in Revit with practical training and a structured project framework. The goal was to establish a solid foundation for the model-based design of safety-related systems while simultaneously building the necessary expertise for further project implementation within the company.
Detailed Description / Approach
In the first step, the technical requirements for the necessary objects were structured and translated into a Revit-compatible format. Building on this, parametric safety technology objects were created, including fire detectors, intercom systems, routers, and other technical components. The key factor here was not only the geometric representation but, above all, the clean parameterization to ensure future uniform use in planning and modeling.
In parallel, a basic Revit training course was conducted to teach the methodological and technical fundamentals of using the software. This ensured that the material learned did not remain theoretical, but could be applied directly within the project context. Additionally, the project structure for an upcoming project was prepared so that the model structure, workflow, and further application of BIM methodology could be defined early on.
In addition, the buildingSMART Foundation certification was integrated to further solidify the standardized BIM foundation from a technical perspective.
