Chalet Living in an Alpine Setting – Kitzbühel Project

Project Overview
The project entails the conversion of a historic building in Kitzbühel into a modern holiday apartment complex designed for leisure and short stays in the Alpine region. The objective is to integrate contemporary architecture into the existing regional typology while preserving local building traditions and materiality.
Architectural Concept
The project combines Alpine tradition with modern clarity. The existing building structure and roof form are preserved, while the facades are reinterpreted through precise openings, glass surfaces, and a contrast between wood and stone. The floor plans are flexibly organized, accommodating apartments of varying sizes as well as communal relaxation areas. The material palette is based on natural stone, timber, and glass: stone for the plinth, timber for the facades and roof, and glass to facilitate the flow of light and ensure transparency. The color concept employs light, natural tones with warm accents.

A key focus lay on the sensitive further development of the existing structures, while preserving regional building culture.
Collaboration and Planning Approach
The development was carried out in close coordination with the client and took into account local building regulations and design guidelines. In addition to standard design coordination, the focus lay on material concepts, usage scenarios, and feasibility for permitting. The collaboration was characterized by a high standard of architectural precision and site-specific quality.
